Description
The Marangu Route is one of the oldest and most well-established paths up Kilimanjaro. It’s the only route that uses huts instead of tents, which means a warmer, drier place to sleep — and fewer logistical hassles.
It’s also the only route where you descend on the same trail you ascend. That makes it slightly less varied than routes like Lemosho or Machame, but ideal for those who value structure and simplicity.
Marangu is often underestimated — many assume it’s “easier” because of the gentler slopes and hut accommodations. But it’s still a serious trek. Without proper acclimatisation (especially on the 5-day version), summit success can be low.
All Marangu expeditions with Dulla include ethical porter standards, expert guiding, and strong preparation to give you the best chance of reaching the summit in safety and comfort.
“Marangu is a great option if you prefer huts over tents or are trekking during the rainy season. But don’t rush it — always choose the 6-day version if you want a real shot at the summit.”
